Jon and I drove down to socal for a friend’s wedding at Calamigos Ranch in Malibu.
While I haven’t seen the Twilight movie, our friends mentioned the atmosphere was very much like the Twilight wedding. It was very romantic – we were surrounded with tall trees with hanging twinkle lights, flowers, and a cool late summer breeze.
It was a very fun evening. The food was also delicious – I especially liked the Baked Brie en Croute appetizer. Jon liked the prime rib. =)
Group photo with the high school gang. Interesting fact: I’ve actually known the groom since 5th grade – we use to spend our afternoons in the same chinese school classroom. We’re all grown up now.
It was a beautiful day! The day started off with some unexpected rain in the morning, but the sky cleared up just in time for the wedding. After being away from socal for a few months, it was so nice to go back home for a few days to celebrate with friends and family. On this day, I married my high school sweetheart!
We exchanged vows under the old sycamore tree.
The light ocean breeze created a soft rustling among the leaves …
… and we danced the night away under the moonlight.
Kathy and I went up to Malibu to check out a potential wedding site one weekend. We’re glad we did, because it was a lot smaller than it looked in the pictures. Not wanting to waste the trip, we headed down to the beach to take some pictures by the pier. Update: we actually did end up getting married at this site a few years later.
As I was figuring out poses and lighting this guy came up to us and offered to take our picture. I refused at first, but as he started talking it became apparent that he was a professional photographer.
So I gave him my camera and let him pose us. The pictures turned out great!
Afterward, I took a few more of Kathy on the other side of the pier. I’m pretty happy with how those turned out, too.
